  • Scottish Energy Efficiency Design Awards (Scottish Government)
Worth £1 million annually, this schemes this fund will present a small number of awards in order to encourage communities, designers, the construction industry and housing providers, to develop innovative approaches to significantly raise the energy performance of existing housing. The Energy Efficiency Design Awards will be managed by the Energy Saving Trust on behalf of the Scottish Government.

    Enhanced Capital Allowances (DTI)
100% first-year capital allowances for businesses investing in energy-saving plant and machinery, low carbon dioxide emission cars and natural gas and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, or water conservation plant and machinery. The scheme provides businesses with enhanced tax relief for investments in equipment that meets published energy-saving criteria.

    Energy Efficiency Funding Database (EST)
This funding database contains details of a wide range of funds relevant to local authorities, housing associations and community groups. This searchable database contains details of around 100 funds for energy efficiency improvements, the installation of renewable energy and other initiatives to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide.

    Environmental Projects UK (Ashden Trust)
The Ashden Trust is a grant-making charity focusing on climate change, sustainable development and improving the quality of life in poorer communities. In order to make lasting changes in the UK and internationally we make small grants (typically between £1,000 - £20,000) to organisations with a track record of delivering innovative and effective projects. The Environmental Projects UK initiative supports work that looks for solutions in the areas of climate change including energy efficiency and renewable energy technology, aviation and transport policy and sustainable agriculture.

Sources of Funding for Energy Efficiency (EST)
This document discusses the different potential sources of funding for energy efficiency measures in the managed housing sector in Scotland. The document covers funding sources that are available across the UK and some that are specific to Scotland. Further specific guidance is available for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The funding sources available are categorised with respect to tenure, with specific sections on funding for local authorities, housing associations and private landlords.

Intelligent Energy - Europe (European Commission)
The Intelligent Energy – Europe programme is run by the Executive Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI) on behalf of the European Commission, and seeks to bridge the gap between EU policies and how they impact on the ground. IEE programme measures include the promotion of energy efficiency and new and renewable energy sources (e.g. in transport, including biofuels). The IEE will fund projects in various areas such as capacity building, spreading of know-how, exchanges of experience, policy input, awareness raising, education and training; however, the IEE programme will not fund "hardware" type investments, demonstration projects, and technical research & development projects.  The next call proposal round will be in early 2010.

    Pilkington Energy Efficiency Trust (EST)
Pilkington Energy Efficiency Trust (PEET) will consider funding, or co-funding, research projects whose successful completion is likely to result in the more efficient use of energy in new or existing buildings. Applications need to be submitted by 30 September or 31 March respectively.

The relief of fuel poverty and the promotion of energy efficiency (Eaga)
The independent Eaga Partnership Charitable Trust (Eaga-PCT) is a grant–giving trust that currently supports projects and research in two main areas: the relief of fuel poverty and the promotion of energy efficiency. The next deadline for applications is 18 December 2009.

    Enhancing Communities (SITA Trust)
Enhancing Communities is the name of SITA Trust's funding programme for community improvement projects. They support projects in any of 90 funding zones around qualifying waste processing sites owned by our donor, SITA UK. The programme offers two schemes providing both small and large grants. Projects are supported that make physical improvements to community facilities, sports projects and historic buildings / structures. Application deadlines are in December 2009 and February, April, June, August and October 2010.

    Energy Efficiency Loans (Carbon Trust)
Energy-Efficiency Loans are designed to save you money when you need to upgrade to more energy efficient equipment. So, if you're a small or medium-sized business in England or Wales, you could borrow £5,000 to £100,000 at 0% fixed interest to fund the purchase of equipment such as lighting, boilers or insulation.

Housing Associations and Local Authorities (Energy Saving Trust)
The EST provides funding and support for local authorities and housing associations, along with their project partners, to promote and implement innovative approaches to reducing carbon emissions from domestic housing in their local areas.

    Clean Capital Network (Clean Capital)
The Clean Capital Network connects growth companies with investors in the clean-tech and clean energy industries. It runs a monthly networking event in London where fund-seeking companies are given an opportunity to pitch their business case informally to the networking event attendees. The network is open to investors and fund managers across the clean-tech sector, as well as to companies and entrepreneurs looking for funding.
