Last night saw the second regional judging event for Shell Springboard. Held at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel in Edinburgh, the evening featured a keynote speech by Shell UK Chairman James Smith and the judging of applications from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England.
The distinguished judging panel - Lloyd Austin (Scottish Environment LINK), Sharon Bamford (Scottish Institute for Enterprise), Professor Patrick Corbett (Heriot-Watt University) and Monica Straughan (Scottish Environmental Protection Agency) - vetted applications for carbon reduction, innovation and business credibility. From a highly competitive field, and after a full day of interviews, the judges decided on Walltransform, Turbine Developments and Scotrenewables as the companies in third, second and first place respectively. Scotrenewables and Turbine Developments will receive a Springboard Award of £40,000 each, and Walltransform will be awarded £20,000. Scotrenewables will go on to the final London event on 7 March.
