Shell Springboard have commissioned an exciting piece of research from Vivid Economics, and this is due to be published this week.
The report is entitled ‘The Race to Capture the Carbon Pound: the UK’s place in the global market for low carbon innovation’.
It aims to increase the understanding of the important role which SMEs play in tackling climate change, and the extent to which UK business is harnessing this opportunity.The report contains a detailed analysis of the value of the Low Carbon market, and demonstrates the British ingenuity that we see day in day out from the entrants to the Shell Springboard programme.
The research will be available for download on the Shell Springboard website from Wednesday, 15th October.
Carbon Trust Interest-Free Loan Scheme
The Carbon Trust offer an interest-free loan scheme for small businesses who promote Energy Efficiency.
In a timely move given the current economic climate, the Trust has recently doubled the maximum loan size they give from £100,000 to £200,000. They have also increased the total amount that they lend by 45% to £31m.Hopefully some of you will be able to benefit from this.
Sustainable UK Cities Tour
The UK is on the cusp of adopting a legally binding target to cut its greenhouse gas emissions. Cities will have a vital role to play in delivering this goal.To develop the practical action needed, the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy (UKBCSE) together with Shell UK is visiting key cities as part of its Sustainable UK Cities Tour. The aim is to bring together business leaders, local government, and the community to help identify priorities to tackle climate change and explore the partnership opportunities on the ground.So far three events have been held in Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow.
